About Us

WHO WE ARE

I have been asked by a long-time customer and friend to tell those of you who are going to experience “Leftovers, etc.” just exactly what we are, what we do and how we impact the community. So here goes!

  • LEFTOVERS, ETC. IS PINTEREST BEFORE PINTEREST WAS POPULAR!!!
  • LEFTOVERS, ETC. IS A “DIY” HAVEN!!!
  • LEFTOVER’S ETC. IS A TEACHER/CHURCH LEADER/SCOUT LEADER/HOMESCHOOL FAMILY/EVERYBODY RESOURCE CENTER!!!
  • LEFTOVER’S ETC. IS WHERE YOU (OUR CUSTOMER) WILL BECOME FAMILY!!!

Officially, we are a recycle/reuse/repurpose not-for-profit organization (RESOURCE CENTER) that survives on donations and community grants.

Our resource center consists of 6,000 sq. ft. of clean/dry household and industrial discards and recyclables that are donated to us by more than 45,000+ individuals and businesses in the metropolitan area.

Our annual customer base consists of 8,000+ local educators representing all metropolitan public and private schools, Parents as Teachers and early childhood centers within the school systems, homeschool educators, Universities, not-for-profit organizations working with under-privileged, at-risk and developmentally disabled children and adults, churches, Scouting groups, independent early childhood centers, occupational and physical therapists, government offices and the public.

When your child comes home from school with a “special project” they made while studying science, math, history, language or art and they have a Pringles Can in hand, or a CD in hand, or an airplane in hand made out of egg cartons – be assured that those supplies came from Leftovers, etc. We service every School District and most Private Schools in the metropolitan area and around the country with supplies that spark a child’s imagination, stretches their thinking process and teaches them that YOU do not have to spend a ton of money for things for them to do (once you get them off the X-Box, etc.)

We count the Magic House, Science Center, Challenger Learning Center, and all other cultural organizations in the metropolitan area, Illinois and all parts of Missouri as our clientele.

A sampling of the not-for-profit organizations we support are the Magic House, Science Center, Backstoppers, Center for Head Injury Services, St. Louis County Library Branches, Disabled American Veterans, Lutheran Family Services, Education Plus, Ronald McDonald House, YMCAs, St. Louis Arc and St. Louis Crisis Nursery to name only a few.

We support 200,000-250,000 children a year.  We provide services to professionals from 48 Missouri counties, 10 Illinois counties, and 18 States who travel to our facility for creative materials.

We have 45,000+ individuals and companies who donate their CLEAN/DRY household and industrial materials/discards to us in order to provide YOU with the supplies you need to be CREATIVE!

We keep tons of material out of the landfill yearly.

We have many organizations that work with developmentally disabled adults and children who visit us on a weekly basis and perform small tasks such as separating greeting cards from front and back, sorting soda lids by color and much, much more.

We are a LEARNING CENTER providing workshops that fulfill all the requirements for Girl Scout and Boy/Cub Scout badges using the resources in our RESOURCE CENTER – opening their eyes to the possibilities of everyday items found in their homes.

We host School Field Trips, Birthday Parties and more.

We offer ADULT DIY CLASSES!

I could say more but I hope this gives you a LITTLE INSIGHT into what we are and what we do and who we LOVE and CHERISH!

I HOPE YOU COME AND VISIT US SOON!

Kid’s DIY Parties!

Sandra Greiwe, Leftovers Founder

Sandy Greiwe, founded the organization in 1989 under the name of Recycle Roundup.  Sandy was an early advocate of providing information services on environmental and recycling issues.  She developed the mission and operating plan presently in use to this date.  While not still an active participant in the day-to-day operation, her ideas and policies are the driving force for the future of this organization.
